I am very excited. The hawk did not scare the birds away. They were staying somewhere protected from the very cold temperatures. Yesterday was a little warmer and the birds came back. It was very enjoyable to watch them. Some new ones came too.

The junkos are about the same size as the purple finches.

At least for now, the squirrels are not getting into the bird feeders. The birds are being very co-operative. They drop seeds out of the feeder. The squirrels come in to eat them. The junkos seem to prefer to eat on the ground and probably are very happy that the other birds are such messy eaters. The cardinals eat on the ground and from the feeder.
